Encouraging my friend Anna to do Walk1000Miles as well, and now she’s as obsessed as me! We have had some wonderful walks together – the West Highland Way, Hadrian’s Wall and the South Downs Way – as well as walking the white villages of the Ronda in southern Spain. We’re both mid-60s now and hope we have many more years ahead of us. It’s such a joy to see someone else love it like you do. Sue Waton

My favourite memory was the biggest ever Badger Meeting (‘badgers’ is how some Walk1000Milers like to refer to themselves, on account of the hallowed Walk1000Miles badge) to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) – 142 people from across in the UK coming together because of little old me. Everyone who climbed reached the summit and told me afterwards in the pub that they had a fantastic time! Susan Miller

Climbing Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon in 2023 with my eldest daughter. Ten years ago, I barely walked anywhere. I found this challenge in 2017 after the loss of my son and haven't looked back. I've done hundreds of walks in some beautiful surroundings but nothing will beat the sense of accomplishment on reaching that summit. Janina Wiles

Circumnavigating the Isle of Wight a couple of years ago and clambering down chines so steep we couldn’t see the bottom. I never dreamed I'd ever do anything like that. The part I remember most is walking from the Needles to Tennyson Down with a clear blue sky overhead and turquoise sea to our right. Fabulous. Denni Morrison

Walking the Kett's Way in Norfolk with my friend Barbara. Just over 19 miles on a lovely summer's day. Maggie Baldwin

My favourite memory dates back ten years ago to September 2015, when I completed my first 1000 miles. Back then there was no Facebook group, just me and my trusty spreadsheet of miles. Little did I know it was going to change my life for the better, both mentally and physically. Within a few years I had made many friends, joined various badger meets and started leading a few of my own. I love this challenge and group – Walk1000Miles is amazing! Richard Inns

For me it has to be spending time with my seven-year-old Maya Bee doing the Seven Hills of Edinburgh – from her big smile of pride on her first trig to her excitement on completing the challenge. Having her walking with me on my Walk1000Miles challenge has been an absolute blast. This wee soul is a true Golden Badger, with the drive and determination to keep going. Well done Maya! Walking (and a bit of crawling) to the Megatron, a storm drain under the streets of Sheffield, is definitely my favourite memory. It was a unique walk which the majority of locals don't even know about. Above us, people were going about their daily lives not knowing we were walking around beneath their feet. Such great fun!
