Quick tip: DON'T compare!

There’s always a huge temptation to compare yourself to others. All those people reaching milestones! Our first instinct as fellow-challengers is to whoop – but the green-eyed gremlin can steer the next, unhelpful reaction; to find yourself wanting. It’s contrary to the mantra of the challenge (the only other competitor is the old you) and there’s simply no comparison. Other people’s lives are foreign countries, their miles foreign currencies – we have no idea what the exchange rate is. One person’s 400 miles might as well be 150,000 dinarii to you. But if it means a lot to them THAT’S the feeling we all know and can share in. #walk1000miles isn’t here to hold up an arbitrary measuring stick and judge you against it – but to make you feel that every mile matters, that keeping on going is the vital thing, and others back you bigtime. It’s no mean feat to keep on keeping on; your determination is AWESOME – and you’ll have earned that medal.
